The Department deals with the research and university-level education in the convergent communication, information and media technologies.
The backbone of the departmental profile is the technical issues of the content - transmission - presentation value chain, including the issues in the processing and transmission of various contents (voice, image, video, data, documents multimedia, etc.) using information technology. The education and research activity of the department is focused on infocommunication systems, particularly up-to-date telecommunication and computer networks, and their integration, as well as media information systems, particularly speech and multimedia information systems and applications, embracing both technological aspects and the related management and sectorial regulatory issues. The scope of the department ranges from the scientific approach to practical applications.

HTE is a voluntary and autonomous professional society of engineers and economists, researchers and businessmen, managers and educational, regulatory and other professionals concerned in the fields of telecommunications, broadcasting, electronics, information and media technologies in Hungary.
The Scientific Association for Infocommunications (in Hungarian: HÍRKÖZLÉSI ÉS INFORMATIKAI TUDOMÁNYOS EGYESÜLET, HTE) has a membership of more than 1600 individuals who are distinguished and highly qualified members of their professions and 100 corporate members. Among the corporate members large companies and small-and-medium enterprises with industrial, trade, service-providing, research and development activities as well as educational institutions and other organizations can be found.

ELECTRONIC & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES (ITG-VDE)

ITG-VDE deals with all aspects of information technology in industry, administration, teaching, research and science. Its primary aim is to promote the scientific and technical development of information technology and its practical application.
The ITG was founded in 1954, making it the oldest of the VDE societies. Today it has around 11,000 members, with 1,400 volunteer experts working in various bodies. The ITG has nine specialist divisions.
